Virtues I do not possess

Sometimes it is very critical to practice patience. Take a deep breath. Keep calm. Imagine what the Dalai Lama would do, given the situation. Today felt like an exercise in patience-when the waiter rolled her eyes after I requested napkins because my Diet Pepsi had spilled all over me- when I came home to discover my magazine had arrived but where was my free gift that was promised with the subscription? You see, I signed up for Martha Stewart Living in order to receive the official MSL tote bag. I sent my subscription with payment over three weeks ago. Finally, the magazine arrived but with no gift! I know I will be calling Martha in the morning and demanding that she gets to the bottom of this. Right after I invite her over for tea.

“You can’t fight every battle.”

Those are words of wisdom from T. She told me this a few months ago when I was venting to her about some rude experience I had in a store. I was fired up and not prepared to let such injustice go on. Then, T told me: “You can’t fight every battle.” Ahh yes, I suppose it isn’t necessary to go to war every time someone wrongs me. Now I’m at the point of letting some things go, like, maybe I can survive without my MSL tote bag for a few more days. I know not every gal could make it under such dire circumstances but there is something to be said about a true fighter.
